ELM Group Topic: The Ancient Festival of Samhain, Sanctuary

  • Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls 710 Sixth Street Oregon City United States (map)

Join the End of Life Matters (ELM) group in the Sanctuary in learning about Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival that marks one of the two hinges, or major turning points, of the year. It marks the final harvest, the end of Summer, and begins the Winter half of the year. It is considered to be the Celtic New Year, and the most important of the Celtic Fire Festivals. Celebrated on the 31st of October, on what we now call Halloween, it is considered to be a liminal time when the Otherworld comes closer to our awareness and the ancestors and beloved dead are able to be communed with.

Come and learn more about the customs and traditions of Samhain, ancient and modern.

All are welcome! No fee.

ELM members seek to learn about all related to death and dying to help us make informed decisions about what we want at that time.
