Thank you for considering visiting our Religious Education program. This page offers a quick overview of our program for newcomers. We hope to give you enough information to feel comfortable, but not so much that you feel overwhelmed! If you have questions that are not addressed here, please feel free to contact our Director of Religious Education, Mary Kroener-Ekstrand at email@example.com.
Checking in as a Visitor
Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls wishes you and your family a warm welcome! We hope your children and/or youth enjoy their time with us.
On your first visit to our classes, we ask that you fill out a visitor form for your child(ren) so that we know who is under our care and have a way to contact you. These forms are available from Greeters and Ushers as you enter the Sanctuary or from our Teacher Volunteers in the classrooms or you may fill out the form online using the button below. The Ushers and Greeters can also give you an RE Program Brochure with details about the curriculum we are using with each age group.
After visiting with us three about three times, we hope that you will feel ready to formally register for our program. There is no fee for enrollment. We use the registration process to find out more about your child(ren) and family and help you get connected in our congregation.
Program Information for All Ages and Stages
Our Religious Education Program is led by our Director of Religious Education (DRE), Mary Kroener-Ekstrand with the support of our volunteer Teacher Council and many member volunteers. Our volunteers are background checked and receive training and supervision from the DRE. Sunday morning Religious Education groups are available for infants through high school youth.
Warm and loving nursery care for babies through young three year olds is provided by the Nursery Coordinator, Nursery Care Assistant staff members as well as congregational volunteers. The Nursery is found in Room 5 in the Religious Education wing, a Greeter or Usher would be happy to show you the way upon your arrival.
Elementary Through Middle School Aged Children
Most Sundays, children of preschool age through middle school attend the first fifteen minutes or so of the worship service with their families, and then are “sung out of the service” to go to age based religious education groups. Our volunteer teachers and the children themselves will be glad to show newcomers the way to their classrooms.
Senior High Youth
Most Sundays, the Senior Youth group begins at 10:30 in the Martha White Room located downstairs near the Bachelder Room (social hall); please ask the Ushers or Greeters where to go to visit with this group.
We have several All-Ages Worship Services throughout the church year which are planned to be especially inclusive for children and youth. These include the Welcoming and Water Communion Ceremony in September, a Thanksgiving service in November, a Holiday Pageant and a Christmas Eve service in December, a Flower Communion service in June, and a Worship and Picnic in the park in June. There are also several child/youth led Worship Services in the spring including a Children’s Play, a Senior Youth Service, and a Coming of Age Service.
