Thank you for considering visiting our Religious Education program. This page offers a quick overview of our program for newcomers. We hope to give you enough information to feel comfortable, but not so much that you feel overwhelmed! If you have questions that are not addressed here, please feel free to contact our Director of Religious Education at email@example.com.
We hope your children and/or youth enjoy their time with us. We encourage new families to visit RE classes together to meet the teachers and other young people. On your first visit to our classes, we ask that you fill out a visitor form for your child(ren) so that we know who is under our care. After visiting three or so times, if you decide our community is a place your family could be a part of, please complete the registration process so we can get to know your family and have important information to serve you children and youth better. Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Willamette Falls wishes you and your family a warm welcome!
Our vibrant Children and Youth Religious Education (RE) Program is led by our Director of Religious Education (DRE), Mary Kroener-Ekstrand, with the support of our volunteer Teacher Council and many member volunteers. Our volunteers are background checked and receive training and supervision from the DRE. Sunday morning Religious Education groups from birth through high school youth are held from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
Warm and loving nursery care for babies through young three year old’s is provided by the Nursery Coordinator, Nursery Care Assistant staff members as well as congregational volunteers. The Nursery is found in Room 5 in the Religious Education wing, a Greeter or Usher would be happy to show you the way upon your arrival.
Sundays mornings, children grades Pre-k thru 6th grade attend the first fifteen minutes or so of the worship service with their parents or guardians, and then are “sung out of the service” to go to their classes. Our volunteer teachers and the children themselves will be glad to show newcomers the way to their classrooms. Junior Youth and Senior Youth classes begin at 10:30 in designated classes; please ask the Ushers or Greeters where to go to visit with these groups.
We have several All-Ages Worship Services throughout the church year which are planned to be especially inclusive for children and youth. They are the Welcoming and Water Ceremony in September, Thanksgiving service in November, Holiday Pageant and Christmas Eve service in December, Flower Communion service, and the Worship and picnic in the park in June.
